15 Days? Already?!

Hey everyone!

The countdown I have on my calender on the computer is getting smaller and smaller by the minute. All summer I've been telling myself that I have plenty of time to get everything together for the upcoming departure date of August 14th. But it seems to have come much faster than I expected. With only around two weeks left, I am now scrambling to get things done.

I decided that now was a good time to start this blog, because I actually have something to write about.

I have been in contact via email with my first host family: The Martinez Family. My host mother's name is Lily. She has four children, three of which attend University in Buenos Aires and one who lives at home. My host sister, Belen (called Belu), is also 16 and lives at home in Comodoro. With them lives a woman from Peru, Vilma, and she has been living with them for up to twelve years.

My three other host siblings are Constanza (Coty), 22 years; Julian (Jul), 20 years; and Francisco (Fran), 18 years old. I have recently discussed with my host mom that when I first arrive in Buenos Aires, i will be staying about a week there with Coty, Julian and Fran. I could not be more excited for this!

After this lovely little introduction to Argentina, I will continue to Comodoro to meet up with Lily and Belu. After emailing every family member (in my awful spanish), I could not be more pleased about the family I have been put with. My nerves are killing me and I'm scared to death, but the sensation of excitement overwhelms everything else. I absolutely cannot wait until I board that plane in Dallas leaving to Buenos Aires!
My only concern right now is the fact that my guarantee letter from Rotary and my visa have not arrived. But I have faith that it will soon enough.

Until next time...

Buena suerte! I don't know what kind of Spanish you've been learning, but you will quickly discover that every country has its idioms. Be sure to take a Latin American Spanish dictionary, which is definitely more useful than one written by someone in Madrid. You're going to learn so much!! We look forward to following your adventures.
